【摘要】:Soundingsperformedusingthistestmethodprovideadetailedrecordofdilatometerresultswhichareusefulforevaluationofsitestratigraphy,homogeneity,depthtofirmlayers,voidsorcavities,andotherdiscontinuities.Thepenetrationresistanceandsubsequentmembraneexpansionareusedforsoilclassificationandcorrelationwithengineeringpropertiesofsoils.Whenproperlyperformedatsuitablesites,thetestprovidesarapidmeansofcharacterizingsubsurfaceconditions.TheDMTtestprovidesmeasurementsofpenetrationresistance,lateralstress,deformationmodulusandpore-waterpressure(insands).However,thein-situsoilpropertiesareaffectedbythepenetrationoftheblade.Therefore,publishedcorrelationsareusedtoestimatesoilpropertiesforthedesignandconstructionofearthworksandfoundationsforstructures,andtopredictthebehaviorofsoilssubjectedtostaticordynamicloads.Thistestmethodteststhesoilin-situandsoilsamplesarenotobtained.However,theinterpretationoftheresultsfromthistestmethoddoesprovideanestimateofthetypesofsoilpenetrated.Soilsamplesfromparallelboringsmaybeobtainedforcorrelationpurposes,butpriorinformationorexperiencemayprecludetheneedforborings.1.1Thistestmethoddescribesanin-situpenetrationplusexpansiontest.Thetestisinitiatedbyforcingthesteel,flatplate,dilatometerblade,withitssharpcuttingedge,intoasoil.Eachtestconsistsofanincrementofpenetration,generallyvertical,followedbytheexpansionofaflat,circular,metallicmembraneintothesurroundingsoil.Thetestprovidesinformationaboutthesoil''sin-situstratigraphy,stress,strength,compressibility,andpore-waterpressureforuseinthedesignofearthworksandfoundations.1.2Thismethodincludesspecificrequirementsforthepreliminaryreductionofdilatometertestdata.Itdoesnotspecifyhowtoassessorusesoilpropertiesforengineeringdesign.1.3Thismethodappliesbesttothosesands,silts,clays,andorganicsoilsthatcanbereadilypenetratedwiththedilatometerblade,preferablyusingstaticpush(see4.2).Testresultsforsoilscontainingprimarilygravel-sizedparticlesandlargermaynotbeusefulwithoutadditionalresearch.1.4Thismethodisnotapplicabletosoilsthatcannotbepenetratedbythedilatometerbladewithoutcausingsignificantdamagetothebladeoritsmembrane.1.5TheAmericanSocietyforTestingandMaterialstakesnopositionrespectingthevalidityofanypatentrightsassertedinconnectionwithanyitemmentionedinthisstandard.Usersofthisstandardareexpresslyadvisedthatdeterminationofthevalidityofanysuchpatentrights,andtheriskofinfringementofsuchrights,areentirelytheirownresponsibility.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
