【摘要】:Thesetestmethodsareintendedtoestimatetheperformanceofupholsteredfurnitureunderconditionsofexposuretoasmolderingcigarette.Thisisaccomplishedbytestingfurniturecomponentassemblies.However,interactionsbetweencomponentsinproductionfurniturearenotnecessarilypredictedbycomponentassemblytesting.Thesetestmethodsarenotintendedtomeasuretheperformanceofupholsteredfurnitureunderconditionsofopenflameexposureanddonotindicatewhetherthefurniturewillresistthepropagationofflameunderseverefireexposureorwhentestedinamannerthatdifferssubstantiallyfromtheteststandard.Theresultsobtainedwithamaterialcomponenttestedinmock-up,inaccordancewiththesetestmethods,donotnecessarilyindicatetheperformanceofthesamematerialcomponentinothergeometricconfigurations,suchasinfull-sizefurniture.1.1Thisisafire-test-responsestandard.1.2Thesetestmethodsaredesignedfortheassessmentoftheresistanceofupholsteredfurniturecomponentassembliestocombustionafterexposuretosmolderingcigarettesunderspecifiedconditions.1.3Thetestsapplytoupholsteredfurniturecomponentscoverfabrics,interiorfabrics,weltcords,deckingmaterials,barriermaterials,andfillingorpaddingmaterialsincludingbutnotlimitedto:battingsofnaturalorman-madefibers,foamedorcellularfillingmaterials,resilientpadsofnaturalorman-madefibers,andlooseparticulatefillingmaterials(suchasshreddedpolyurethaneorfeathersanddown).1.4Theindividualtestmethodsandthematerialstowhichtheyapplyareasfollows:1.4.1CoverFabricTest8212;Appliestooutercoverfabrics(seeSections10and11).1.4.2InteriorFabricTest8212;Appliestointeriorfabricsusedinintimatecontactwithouterfabrics(seeSections12and13).1.4.3WeltCordTest8212;Appliestoweltcord(seeSections14and15).1.4.4Filling/PaddingComponentTest8212;Appliestoresilientmaterialsusedunderthecoverfabricinseatsorininsideverticalwalls(insidearmandinsidebacks)(seeSections16and17).1.4.5DeckingMaterialsTest8212;Appliestoresilientmaterialsusedinthedeckunderloosecushions(seeSections18and19).1.4.6BarrierMaterialsTest8212;Appliestomaterialsthatareintendedtoserveasabarrierbetweencoverfabricandconventionalpolyurethanefoam(seeSections20and21).1.5Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.6Thisstandardisusedtomeasureanddescribetheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditions,butdoesnotbyitselfincorporateallfactorsrequiredforfirehazardorfireriskassessmentofthematerials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.1.7Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazardstatements,seeSection7.
