【摘要】:Thisguideisgeneralandusefulinhelpingtheusertodetermineanappropriatemanualtestmethodfordeterminingtheparticlesizedistributionoffluvialsediments.Thesuggestedtestmethodsarenotdescribedinthisguide,butreferencesaregivensothattheusermayobtainmoreinformationabouteachtestmethod.Itshouldbenotedthatdifferenttestmethodsmayandoftentimesdoproducedifferentparticlesizedistributionsforthesamesample.Thisisdueinparttothedifferenttestmethodsrequiringnativeordistilledwater,differencesindispersionmethodsused,anddifferencesinwhatthetestmethodismeasuring,thatis,physicalorsedimentationdiameter.1.1Thisguidecoverstheselectionofmethodsfordeterminingthesizedistributionoffluvialsedimentsparticlesintherangegreaterthan0.45x03BC;musingmanualmethods.Manualmethodsaredefinedasthosemethodsthatrequiretheoperatortodosomeactualmeasurementsandcalculations.Anautomatedmethodwouldbeonewhich,afterthesampleispreparedandinsertedintoaninstrument,theinstrument(machine)doesthemeasuringandcalculations,nottheoperator.Notallmanualmethodsarepresentedinthisguide.However,whereavailable,atleasttwomethodsforeachparticlesizerangearegiven.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
