【摘要】:TheintentofthisguideistoidentifycharacteristicswhichaFBSIDshallpossess.ItisnotexpectedthattheFBSIDwillbeusedalonetoprovidetheentirescopeofrequiredimmobilization.Clinicalsituationsmayrequiredifferingcombinationsofdevicesforadequatetotalspinalimmobilization.AFBSIDmaybeoneofthedevices.Adeviceintendedforusewithadultpatientsshallaccommodatethe95thpercentileadultAmericanmale.Devicesthatarelabeledasintendedforpediatricuseshallnotberequiredtoaccommodateanadult.Thedeviceshallbeabletobeusedbythepractitionerinanergonomicallysoundmanner.1.1Thisguideestablishesminimumstandardsfordevices,designatedhereasfullbodyspinalimmobilizationdevice(s)(FBSID),commonlyknownaslongboards.TheFBSIDisdesignedtobeusedasthebasestructureforimmobilizationandtransportofapatientwithpotentialspineorspinalcordinjurybyemergencymedicalservicepersonnel.1.2ThisguidedoesnotidentifyspecificdegreesoflimitationofmotionachievedbyplacementofaFBSIDonapatient.Definitiverequirementsforimmobilizationofthespine,and,inparticular,thedegreeoflimitationassociatedwiththeuseofaFBSID,havenotbeenestablishedinthemedicalliterature.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
